" Charlie Bee Company" is a show about a quirky bunch of Texas beekeepers who rescue killer, “africanized” honeybees from desperate and dangerous situations; with each painful sting, raising awareness for our planet's most important pollinator.

SYNOPSIS

Get ready for 8 new 60min episdoes in Season 2 of the award-winning, sustainably-focused, docu-reality series "Charlie Bee Company" when it returns to PBS in 2024 with Charlie Agar, the quirky, wildly passionate, bee removal expert! 

Mission: To decode & uncover the secret life of bees by rescuing Africanized honeybees from desperate & dangerous situations while educating viewers about the drastic bee population decline, and the critical role bees play in agriculture a&nd the health of our ecosystem.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Each one-hour episode follows Charlie, the bee fanatic who is equal parts mad inventor, nature-lover, and thrill-seeker, as he dives head first into jaw-dropping hive removals and learns from educational bee experiences. From removing rogue hives at an office, learning about medicinal properties of honey, to witnessing a commercial bee migration for almond orchard pollination, with Charlie as our guide, it’s never a dull moment, and usually a comical one. 

Take-Away: Charlie Bee Company’s immersive style draws viewers into the story while Charlie unearths intel about bees, the hive mentality, and honey. This allows endless surprises while rewriting our relationship with this chief pollinator—an insect that terrifies many, but promises to shift to fascination and a heightened awareness of bee conservation!

Ashley Davison - Showrunner

Ashley Scott Davison, director+producer+writer+editor is founder the boutique production company iniosante inc. With 20 years of international production experience specializing in wildlife documentaries and commercials, Ash utilizes innovative cinematography & and unorthodox editing to help alter how our planet perceives wildlife. Notable Director/ Producer credits include NatGeo WILD’s "Walking With Giraffes,” the award-winning giraffe doc "Catching Giants” and is showrunner for Charlie Bee Company.

Charlie Agar - Host, Coproducer

With a decade of experience getting stung and raiding bee hives across Texas, Charlie Agar is a true Bee Guru who’s quick to chase a swarm, save a hive, and keep folks out of danger. After working in Alaska, Japan and Nepal, Charlie became a guidebook writer for Frommer’s Travel Guides in Southeast Asia, then landed in New Braunfels, Texas, where he got his first honeybee hive, started a hobby of hive removals, and his bee obsession quickly snowballed!

Brent Ramirez - Associate Producer, Cameraman, Editor

Brent is a graduate of Texas State University with a degree in Electronic Media and Mass Communications. He is credited for developing the motion graphics seen in NatGeo WILD’s Walking With Giraffes. He was in charge of action cameras (drones and GoPros) on Catching Giants. He was an assistant camera and editor for the award winning tv pilot, Charlie Bee Company. Brent has a passion for creativity and is an amazing musician.
