This fiscal sponsorship is for the development of a variety of documentary, fiction, and hybrid projects under the Marshall Curry Productions banner.

SYNOPSIS

Oscar-winning and four-time-nominated documentary filmmaker Marshall Curry has spent decades creating films that open viewers up to new worlds and ideas. Curry is currently developing a range of new nonfiction and fiction projects that will continue to entertain and challenge audiences.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Marshall Curry's films explore a range of timely and relatable themes, including racial authenticity, adolescence, and self-image. Most of all, these projects engage with complicated characters and stories on both a personal and political level.

Marshall Curry - Director/Producer/Writer/Editor

Marshall Curry recently wrote and directed the fiction short THE NEIGHBORS' WINDOW, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short. He is also a three-time Oscar-nominated documentary director, cinematographer, and editor. Curry's films have won top honors at Sundance and Tribeca, played in theaters and on television around the world, and earned two Emmy nominations and two Writers Guild of America nominations. His films cover a wide range of interests and include STREET FIGHT, about Cory Booker's first run for mayor of Newark, N.J.; RACING DREAMS, which tells the story of two boys and a girl who dream of becoming NASCAR drivers; IF A TREE FALLS: A STORY OF THE EARTH LIBERATION FRONT, which chronicles a radical environmental group; POINT AND SHOOT, about an American who leaves home to join the Libyan revolution; and A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, about a Nazi rally that filled Madison Square Garden in 1939.  Curry also Executive Produced and helped to edit MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS, a comedy documentary about the indie rock band, The National.
