Stephanie Hunt has been acting, playing music and making the world brighter since her teenage years in Austin. In City of Songs, Steph will take us along with her as she continues her journey – exploring, giving us a glimpse into the source of inspiration the world over, and sharing the true energy of sound only the willing can tap into. Steph’s curiosity, only deepening after years spent exploring the world with her fellow artists, will draw in music lovers, musicians, and seekers alike – while navigating the cultural divide through music.

Each season, we explore six iconic cities renowned for their musical heritage and cultural contributions. From Austin to Seoul to Barcelona, join us on an exhilarating journey with Steph as she seeks out the sources of creativity across the globe. Quickly immersing herself in the local scene, Steph connects with musicians, cultural innovators, and fellow explorers. With their help, she explores the musical zeitgeist bubbling beneath the surface of each city, intertwined with the art that nourishes its spirit and the cuisine that embodies its character.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Our team is driven by the desire to understand the ingredients that make these cities iconic music hubs. This curiosity has opened the door to exploring the beauty of each location—the sounds, drumbeats, people, art, and cuisine that collectively compose the intricate weave of its cultural canvas.

KEY CREW

Stephanie Hunt - Host

Austin-based singer-songwriter and actor Stephanie Hunt (a.k.a. Buffalo Hunt) began her entertainment career as an actress with roles in "Californication" and "Friday Night Lights.” Later, she acted in "Greek", "Glee" and "How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life" She also appeared in the Keith Poulson comedy "Somebody Up There Likes Me", "Your Family Or Mine" and the comedy "April Apocalypse" with Reece Thompson. More recently, Hunt appeared in "The Hollow”. Throughout her acting years while based in Los Angeles, songwriting remained a refuge or a sanctuary for Steph —“a place to be able to actually consider how I felt about life rather than saying lines that people had written for me.” She merged her acting and musical worlds to form Nancy and Beth with Megan Mullally in 2012, a genre-defying cabaret-style act that performed at the Sydney Opera House and toured internationally. With Buffalo Hunt, Steph is giving voice to the thoughtful, intellectual curiosity of her world and those of the fabulously creative friends that surround her now back in Austin once again.
