SYNOPSIS
Through interviews and conversations with experts, practitioners, and patients, The K-Hope sheds light on the history, medical, recreational uses and the risks involved with the revolutionary medicine: Ketamine.
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
I first learned about Ketamine when my cousin told me the terrifying story of her teenage son, who fell into a deep depression when COVID hit. He was home from school, and no matter what the family tried, the depression kept getting worse. They were afraid they were going to lose him. Desperate to find answers, she found out about Ketamine and was able to get her son in for a treatment. She was terrified but nothing else had worked. After his first treatment, it was clear that her son had returned. Once I heard this story, I became obsessed with learning more about ketamine and how it’s being used. Now, I am making a 6 part television series about the history, uses and abuses of the drug ketamine. We will follow patients around the world over the space of a year to explore what their experiences are with the treatment. I will also be using the story of my cousin’s son in animated form to illustrate how the monitored treatment of ketamine impacts the mind and perception of the patient. I am bringing my 20 years of experience as a digital media and television executive and strategist of scripted and non-scripted programming and marketing campaigns. As a television producer, I collaborated with Electus LLC and produced six digital shows for the original 'Hungry' and 'LOUD' Channels that YouTube operates. I also worked on TV shows including 'Hell's Kitchen' (FOX), 'Dog & Beth On The Hunt' (CMT), 'Pecos League' (FOX), among others.
