LOGLINE

After more than five decades of collecting rare and vintage pieces dating back to 1932, Samu Qureshi, a Washington football fan, believes he is finally ready to part with his collection and sell it to the new team ownership to establish a museum and hall of fame.

SYNOPSIS

Samu Qureshi, a native Washingtonian, has spent over 55 years amassing the largest collection of Washington Football Team memorabilia in the country, proudly considering himself the historian and archivist of the franchise’s rich legacy. After selling his home in the area and relocating to St. Louis, he found a temporary home for his treasured “museum” in a professional office building in suburban Maryland.

After decades of controversy, the franchise has finally ushered in a new era, a culture shift that has reignited fans’ love for the team and brought excitement back to the city that was lost for decades. For Samu, this new era is the perfect opportunity to pass on his life’s work and ensure the team’s history is preserved for future generations.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

At its core, this project is about memory, devotion, and the emotional weight of each piece in his collection. Through the story of Samu Qureshi, a lifelong collector and self-proclaimed team historian, we explore the intersection of personal identity and collective history, where sports fandom transcends the game itself. For over 55 years, Samu has passionately amassed the largest private collection of Washington football team memorabilia, preserving a tangible connection to the team’s storied past. The collection is more than game-worn jerseys and helmets, original letters and vintage newspapers—it’s a living archive of a city's identity, a reflection of generational loyalty, and a deeply personal endeavor shaped by time, place, and change. Now, having relocated to St. Louis and packing his collection into just over 4,000 square feet of an unassuming Maryland office building, Samu stands at a crossroads. His desire to pass on the collection is not simply a transaction but a symbolic gesture—he will only part with it if the team’s new ownership takes responsibility for its legacy. In this moment, we witness the tension between personal stewardship and institutional memory, between an individual’s passion and a corporation’s vision for its history. This film is an inquiry into the meaning of belonging, nostalgia, and the shifting dynamics of sports culture. Through Samu’s journey, we confront the question: What happens when history is no longer ours to hold?
