An old, lonely man coping with the death of his only brother is reunited with his estranged son for the upcoming funeral.

SYNOPSIS

When an old man learns his dead brother has been cremated, he and his estranged son formulate a plan to steal the remains and bury them in the family cemetery – until a secret about their deceased loved one threatens to tear the family apart.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

As I venture away from the commercial arena of documentary and sports, and deeper into the narrative world of filmmaking, I am excited to be exploring storylines closer to my own heart, all with the support of a supremely talented collection of creatives I’ve met and worked with in my commercial career. This particular story is based on my real-life grandfather, and the mostly-real events surrounding his relationship with his own little brother. Now, with characters and narratives I am intimately connected to, and alongside a wonderfully talented team of filmmakers, I look forward to creating real, raw, and nuanced films that rely not on cinematic gimmicks or large budgets, but on truth and heart.

After working as Austin FC’s first head of video production from 2020-2022, I returned to independent commercial work, where I continue to enjoy a wide variety of directing and editing opportunities in the world of sports, documentary, music videos, and brand campaigns. In the meantime, I continue to pursue my ultimate ambition of writing and directing narrative films on the big screen.

Spencer Greene - Director of Photography

I started Spencer Greene Films after producing commercial-grade content in the Austin area and around the county for 7 years. Growing up in a military family, discipline and commitment are firmly ingrained in my roots. It’s helped me immensely in my work, primarily because of the time and precision video marketing and content creation takes.

Olivia Maaghul - Art Director

I am a freelance filmmaker in Austin with a focus on directing, editing, and art design in the commercial and narrative worlds of film production. Most of my work revolves around music videos, independent narrative projects, and a variety of commercial brand work.
