A reclusive photographer's strange encounter with a long-thought-missing woman threatens to draw him out of his isolation.

SYNOPSIS

Tim Bosco moves into the basement of his ailing mother's Long Island home and wipes himself off social media in an effort to withdraw from the rest of humanity, beyond the reach of anyone else he ever knew. But then one evening, while taking a photo of the sky over the local waterfront, he notices a woman standing in his phone camera's frame who doesn't appear to be there off-screen. She in turn realizes he can see her and flees, setting him off on a quest to determine what he just saw.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

The story of "Off the Face of the Earth" grew out of my lifelong struggle to reconcile the peace of solitude with the pain of loneliness. Leaving the relative emotional and psychological safety of my home to submit myself to the unpredictable observation of even the people I love most has always been fraught, but the gnawing need to stay connected to others always eventually drives me back to it.
