Break Cute

: Narrative Short
GENRE: Comedy
STATUS: Post-Production

BREAK CUTE is the anti-meet cute, based on the (kind of) true break up of a couple that’s (kind of) still in love.

A play on the classic Rom Com meet cute moment, Break Cute follows a vacationing couple, and their new foster dog, as they attempt to save their relationship, but instead, destroy it.

Break Cute stars Jimmy Wong (Mulan, The Circle) and Joanna Hausmann (Bill Nye Saves The World, Pixar’s Monsters at Work). It is Executive Produced by Chris Giliberti (Homecoming), Debbi DiMaggio (Threesomething) and Logan Freethy.

The Film

Remember that moment you realized your relationship wasn’t going to work out? Break Cute explores that very moment.

The Ask

Building on the momentum of my debut film An Aspirational Space, which has screened at 16 festivals, we are now in pre-production for Break Cute. We are looking to raise an additonal $15,400 (to reach our goal of $39,000) to fully fund the film.

Our above-the-line team is working for free — in the true spirit of indie filmmaking — so all funds go directly to the hard production costs such as paying the production team, equipment rentals, locations, and food.

Inclusion Statement

My goal as a director is to create a space for women both in front of and behind the camera. Women accounted for 4% of directors in 2018 (source), and we see similar discrepancies across all positions on-set. How do we close the gender disparity gap in entertainment? It starts with including women and creating opportunities for women to hold production leadership roles! Which brings me to my mandate: Any film I direct requires a crew of at least 50% women.
