SYNOPSIS
LOS LOBOS NATIVE SONS is the ultimate, authorized chronicle of the band Los Lobos. From their early life experiences in East Los Angeles through their rise as an unlikely team of cultural heroes, this feature documentary boasts unprecedented, exclusive access to the band and their personal archives.
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
The artistic goal of our film is to depict another side of the American story that is rarely seen. Visually we would like to feature the vast American landscape, as the band is known and loved throughout the country. But in particular we would like to highlight the city of Los Angeles, especially the rich, vivid sights and sounds of East Los Angeles where the band originates. When it comes to the Great American Story most artists are able to tell theirs through only a single lens. But the world has changed and we want to tell more than just the story of Anglo America. When it comes to Los Lobos, they speak of America’s immigrant stories, told through the many layers of their music. From their song Good Mornin Aztlan, where you learn how it sonically feels to wake up in East LA, to the concept of having to leave your hometown and the sense of longing to revisit, as depicted in their latest, Grammy-winning song Native Son. Over the last 50 years Los Lobos has been on the road nonstop, telling these stories that are universal to all of us, reminiscent of the great Woody Guthrie. Our film gives us the opportunity to share this vision with the world and to demonstrate how this legendary American band has stood the test of time. We’ll also show how they’ve proven themselves in the eyes of their industry peers such as Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, and Bonnie Raitt, many of whom list Los Lobos as their favorite band.

Doug Blush - Co-Director
Doug Blush is an award-winning director, producer, editor, writer and cinematographer whose work includes over 130 feature and television projects, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as well as the American Cinema Editors (ACE). His recent credits include, as consulting editor and co-producer, the 2022 LIKE A ROLLING STONE: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF BEN FONG TORRES, the 2020 Critics’ Choice and Peabody Award-winning MR SOUL!, the 2019 Academy Award-winning PERIOD. END OF SENTENCE, the 2018 Academy Award-winning ICARUS, and, as supervising editor, the 2013 Oscar winner 20 FEET FROM STARDOM, for which he also received the ACE Eddie Award for Best Documentary Editing. Doug co-owns MadPix Films, a production and post production company in Los Angeles dedicated to documentary and independent films. He is also a longtime film educator with classes and seminars at USC, UCLA, Syracuse University and the YoungArts Foundation in Miami, as well as exchanges and panels in Indonesia, Brazil, New Zealand, Armenia, Malaysia, Latvia, Nigeria, China, the Netherlands and more.
Piero F. Giunti - Co-Director
With a raw approach and the ability to capture the essence of artists, LA Based music photographer, Piero F. Giunti, is one of the most creative photographers in both the English and Latin music scene. Piero’s photographs have been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Esquire Magazine, USA Today, O Magazine, Alternative Press, Los Angeles Magazine, L.A. Times, Latina Magazine, Red Bull North America Music, The Guardian, Variety Magazine, LA Taco Magazine, Premire Guitar and NME Magazine, among other publications worldwide. He has built a reputation shooting some of the most prominent and emerging artists, models, and sports figures of our times. His portfolio consists of Grammy award winning and legendary artists including: Linda Ronstadt, Public Enemy, KRS ONE, Los Lobos, Los Tigres Del Norte, Saul Hernandez (Caifanes / Jaguares), Carla Morison, Ozomatli, Motorhead. As a musician himself, he understands the importance of obtaining and setting an unforgettable image. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Piero is the son of a Mexican born mother and an Italian born father. His multicultural upbringing exposes him to a greater understanding of people and social issues. This experience shapes his photographic style, allowing him to draw inspiration from the world’s diverse music and cultural beauty.
Robert Corsini - Producer
Robert Corsini is a highly experienced documentary and non-fiction Director, Producer, Writer and Editor based in Los Angeles, California. Robert grew up on Southern California and graduated from UCSB. He served two years in the Peace Corps in West Africa, and upon his return, embarked on a career in non-fiction TV production. Over his career, he has worked on a diverse range of national and independent documentary projects that have aired on Syfy, Reelz, NewsmaxTV, PBS, NBC, Fox Sports Net, Discovery, Travel Channel, TLC and numerous multi-media clients in the non-profit sector. He also spent several years producing and directing ‘Straight FromThe Streets’, a unique hip-hop driven perspective on LA civil unrest of the nineties. Recent documentary development and production projects involve social justice issues, conflict resolution in the Middle East and feature documentaries on anti-Semitism and the Armenian Genocide. For Robert every project he works on presents a unique opportunity to broaden understanding and appreciation of the world we live in and the range of human experience -- from the ridiculous to the awe inspiring and everything in-between.
