Two exes are locked in a hilarious battle for their former apartment, highlighting the economic pressure most tenants face today.  If you care about affordable housing, please support this project.

SYNOPSIS

"Domestic Bliss" is a dark comedy that delves into the tumultuous lives of Bill, a 50-something divorced man, his girlfriend Carla, and his ex-wife Wendy, the mother of 2 teens. The film revolves around the escalating battle between Bill and Wendy over the rights to their rent-stabilized apartment. While the story is laced with dark humor, it also underscores a critical social issue for a large part of the U.S. and other Western populations in major cities: the struggle for affordable housing, which is no longer an issue limited to the (working) poor.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

As a writer/director/producer, I've always been interested in fairness and equality. I also share my cross-cultural experiences (EU & NYC) in all my projects, while tyring to keep it moving with a wink and a smile at the characters I create. Although I've succesfully created a number of feature length and short projects, some of which have become award winners, over the past decade creating even short films has become harder and harder as an artist living on a fixed budget in a major City, and in this case I believe actual affordability of housing is becoming a world wide problem. Perhaps some levity will bring more attention to this issue and hopefully this film will contribute to a dialogue that can lead to some solutions in this area.  We hope to raise $25K through The Gortham forum, with addl. production, Post prodn. & PR cost through other means. So far we have self-funded  & allocated about $7k. Any donation large or small is welcome.
