ARTISTIC STATEMENT

The idea for this film came to me when I ran into one of my favorite actors. I asked him if he had any upcoming projects he could tell me about. He pulled his sunglasses down and asked me if I could “keep it down”. I was in disbelief. I couldn’t believe someone I looked up to and almost worshipped wouldn’t even give me the time of day. I felt as if I deserved that moment of attention. And then I realized: this was just my fragile sense of self and masculinity talking. I scoured the internet for a film that represented the struggle I was feeling, and when I couldn’t find something I decided I had to make it. So I hope when someone watches this short film, they have a laugh and think about checking themself before someone else has to.
